Nysos to miss month of training

Nysos, the undefeated colt who was withdrawn from the Grade 2 San Felipe Stakes at Santa Anita earlier this month, is currently out of training for approximately a month, trainer Bob Baffert wrote in a text message Tuesday.
Nysos has won three starts, including two stakes, by a combined 26 3/4 lengths for Charles and Susan Chu’s Baoma Corp.
Baffert said Nysos will not be trained for 30 days. It was not immediately clear when Nysos will be able to resume racing. The development was first reported by Thoroughbred Daily News.
By Nyquist, Nysos won a six-furlong maiden race by 10 1/2 lengths at Santa Anita in October and his stakes debut in the Grade 3 Bob Hope Stakes at seven furlongs at Del Mar on Nov. 19 by 8 3/4 lengths.

In his lone start this year, Nysos closed from fourth in a field of seven to win the Grade 3 Robert Lewis Stakes at a mile by 7 1/2 lengths on Feb. 3 at Santa Anita as the 1-10 favorite. He was timed in 1:36.65 and earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 105, the highest for a 3-year-old this year.
Purchased for $550,000 at the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co.'s April 2-year-olds in training sale in Florida last year, Nysos has earned $216,600.
Nysos was the 1-5 favorite on the original morning line for the Grade 2 San Felipe Stakes on March 3 at Santa Anita before he was withdrawn. Baffert said that weekend that he wanted to give the colt more time for his next start.
