NYRA's Dan Silver takes job with Roberts Communications Network

David Grening|Dec 13, 2017

Dan Silver has left the New York Racing Association and has been hired as director of sales, marketing and business development at Roberts Communications Network, a leading communications services provider to the parimutuel industry.

In this newly created position, Silver will develop and implement sales, marketing, public relations and business development strategies in addition to working with RCN’s existing customers and establishing new partners, both domestic and aboard, according to release from RCN.

"Dan brings extensive racing industry experience across a number of roles and we are very excited to add him to our team," said RCN president and CEO Todd Roberts. "We grew familiar with him during his time at the New York Racing Association, and when we found out that he was leaving there on good terms, it quickly became clear that he would be a natural fit for our organization.”

Silver, 38, has served two stints at NYRA. For the past four years, he was the senior director of TV and helped develop Belmont Park Live and Saratoga Live, which broadcast daily shows of live racing from these two tracks. He also helped launch the innovative NYRA Now video application, which allowed viewers to watch live and on-demand racing content on a variety of devices.

In his prior stint at NYRA, Silver was director of communications and media relations. In between, he worked as director of racing operations at Penn National.

"I am very thankful to the New York Racing Association, and especially Chris Kay and David O'Rourke, for giving me the opportunity to work there," said Silver, who will start at RCN in mid-January. "I recently decided to move to Washington, D.C., for personal reasons, and this new role for Roberts Communications Network is a terrific fit. I've long enjoyed working with Todd Roberts, Joe Hill, and the entire team at RCN, and I am extremely excited to help them shape the future of their company."
