The New York Racing Association will have a relatively low-key celebration to mark the closing of Aqueduct on its final weekend of racing June 27-28.  Plans, announced Tuesday, include on June 27 a Caribbean-themed party that will include live music and a free rum tasting hosted by Mount Gay.   On June 28, fans will get a final photo opportunity at the Big A. Also, the first 1,000 fans through the door will receive a souvenir mini-mason jar of dirt from Aqueduct’s main track.  On both days, there will be an onsite installation presented by Henry Kornaros of Public Opinion. Also, NYRA’s track photographer, Adam Coglianese, will host a pop-up booth offering a collection of free photographs as souvenirs.  :: Access the most trusted data and information in horse racing! Though admission to Aqueduct has been free at least since the opening of Resorts World Casino in October 2011, there will be a $5 admission charge for both days of closing weekend. The charge includes a commemorative racing program and proceeds from the admission charge go to the NYRA Foundation, a philanthropic effort designed to raise funding and awareness for the work of non-profits, service providers, Thoroughbred aftercare groups and charitable organizations connected to horse racing. Kids under 18 are admitted free of charge.  It was also announced that while live racing at Aqueduct comes to an end on June 28, the building will be open for simulcasting during the 46-day Saratoga meet that runs from July 3-Sept. 7. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
