Ny Traffic sick, forced to miss Cigar Mile

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Ny Traffic was expected to ship up from Florida on Monday for the Cigar Mile but was kept at home after trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. didn’t like the results of blood work he had pulled on the horse.
“He’s got some kind of sickness,” Joseph said Monday. “We were supposed to get on a van this morning but it didn’t come back good.”

Ny Traffic was coming off a dominant victory against New York-breds in the Hudson Handicap at Belmont on Oct. 30.
Ny Traffic was going to be Joseph’s final starter of the year in New York. Aside from Saratoga – where he went 1 for 40 – Joseph enjoyed success on the New York circuit in 2021. At Aqueduct and Belmont, he won 17 races from 49 starts, including the Grade 1 Carter with Mischevious Alex and the Grade 1 Woody Stephens with Drain the Clock.
