SHAKOPEE, Minn. – Nun the Less produced a potent four-wide stretch kick to reel in Gallery for a one-length win Saturday night in the $200,000 Mystic Lake Derby. Handled confidently by jockey Florent Geroux, Nun the Less gained his first stakes win for locally based owner Robert Lothenbach's Lothenbach Stables Inc. and Chicago-based trainer Chris Block. Gallery, also based at Arlington Park, had surged to the front entering the stretch and went past the rail-skimming 7-5 favorite Syntax, who held on for third. Nun the Less then swept past Gallery in the final sixteenth. Nun the Less, sent off as the third choice in the field of seven, paid $10.80 and collected $120,000 for his connections. The 3-year-old Candy Ride colt covered the mile over firm turf in a quick 1:34.82.
