Number One Dude, Gotta See Red triumph in Oklahoma Stallion Stakes
Trainer Kari Craddock and jockey Leandro Goncalves swept the $50,000 Oklahoma Stallion Stakes races Friday night when Number One Dude dominated against colts and geldings and Gotta See Red proved best on the fillies side at Remington Park.
Number One Dude ($2.40) established himself as one of the top 2-year-olds of the Remington Park meet last year, when he went 3 for 4. He asserted himself Friday night, when he tracked the pace, then overwhelmed his rivals with a seven-length win in the race restricted to the offspring of eligible stallions. Number One Dude covered seven furlongs on a fast track in 1:23.44.
Just Chillin was second and it was a nose back in third to Rosie’s Outlaw.
Number One Dude won the first three races of his career by a combined margin of 14 1/2 lengths last season at Remington.
Craddock trains the son of American Lion for his breeder, Terry Westemeir.
Gotta See Red ($3.80) wired her rivals en route to a 3 1/2-length win in the fillies division, which was restricted to the offspring of eligible stallions. She covered seven furlongs on a fast track in 1:24.76. Run Slewpy Run finished second, two lengths in front of third-place finisher Courtly.
Gotta See Red won the $100,000 Oklahoma Classics Lassie last fall at Remington. The daughter of Pollard’s Vision races for her breeders, Hal Browning and David Faulkner.
