NTRA to present drug-test findings

The National Thoroughbred Racing Association's Task Force on Racing Integrity and Drug Testing will present preliminary findings and results from its experimental drug-testing program during the Jockey Club Round Table Conference on Matters Pertaining to Racing on Aug. 19.

The task force, which is headed by Jim Gallagher, has been collecting data from more than 1,000 post-race urine samples collected at tracks across the country. The samples have been subjected to rigorous testing in an attempt to improve testing procedures and identify illegal drugs in racing.

Also scheduled to be dicussed at the Round Table, which will be held in Saratoga Springs, New York, are national sponsorships and regulation in racing.
