Noteworthy Peach, Lexington Street resting until spring

Trainer Gary Capuano plans to give his Maryland-bred stakes runners Noteworthy Peach and Lexington Street the winter off and point to spring campaigns.
The 4-year-old Noteworthy Peach scored a six-length win Dec. 26 in the one-mile Jennings Handicap at Laurel Park. Last spring, Noteworthy Peach finished second against open company in the Federico Tesio Stakes at Pimlico.
Lexington Street finished second by 1 1/2 lengths to Look Who’s Talking in the seven-furlong Maryland Juvenile Filly Championship on Dec. 26.
“They both came back good,” Capuano said.
Lexington Street, a daughter of Street Sense, is owned and was bred by Peter Angelos, the majority owner of the Baltimore Orioles. She is likely to be sent to Marathon Farms in Baltimore County, Md., which Angelos owns.
“She’s a big, grand filly and still has a lot of filling in to do,” Capuano said. “The thing is, she really doesn’t want to sprint. She wants to run a route of ground. She finished good the other day, but that other filly just got the jump on her, and she couldn’t catch her.”
Lexington Street put together a 5-3-2-0 record during her 2-year-old season while earning $136,000.
Noteworthy Peach has four wins and three seconds from nine starts and $160,000 in earnings.
“He really doesn’t do much in the morning, but he’s ready in the afternoon,” Capuano said.
Lexington Street and Noteworthy Peach both look good enough to compete in open-company stakes this season.
