Not This Time strikes again with Just One Time in Madison at Keeneland

Pennsylvania-bred Just One Time is the newest Grade 1 winner for the hot young sire Not This Time, running down the classy Bell’s the One to win the Madison Stakes on Saturday at Keeneland.
The filly was bred in the Keystone State by Warriors Reward LLC and won four of the first five starts of her career in her home state for that operation and trainer Michael Salvaggio Jr. She scored victories in the Malvern Rose Stakes last July at Presque Isle, and the New Start Stakes in October at Penn National. After that, Commonwealth New Era Racing – of which Todd Mostoller, executive director of the Pennsylvania HBPA, is a founding managing partner – purchased an interest in her. Mostoller said “There are a lot of friendships that go back a lot of years” in the ownership partnership.
“We went in and had a beverage, and I said ‘What do you want for 40 percent of this filly?’ and we got it done,” he said.

Just One Time was transferred to trainer Brad Cox in order to target top divisional prizes around the country and has since won the Grade 2 Inside Information and the Madison.
Salvaggio “had done a hell of a job getting her to the races,” Mostoller said. “But you need that expertise with shipping around the country, and a couple of these guys have it, and Brad Cox is one of those individuals. There’s fantastic horsemen all around the small tracks of this country . . . But sometimes, we have to make decisions in the best interest of the horse, and what we want to try to do.”

Just One Time is the fifth stakes winner this season for Not This Time, who stands at Taylor Made Farm. The stallion, whose third crop will race this year, is expected to be represented in the Kentucky Derby by Epicenter, who dominated the Fair Grounds series of prep races capped by the Louisiana Derby; and Fountain of Youth winner Simplification, third in the Florida Derby. Another son, In Due Time, will try to earn his way into the Derby in the Grade 3 Lexington.
