Not So Quiet takes Overskate Stakes for second consecutive year

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Not So Quiet won the $100,000 Overskate Stakes for the second year in a row Saturday at Woodbine, giving leading trainer Mark Casse his fifth winner on the card.
No So Quiet ($3.30) dueled with longshot Derzkii through moderate fractions in the seven-furlong Ontario-sired event, which was taken off the turf and moved to the Tapeta.
Not So Quiet opened up a clear lead entering the stretch and kept on going to prevail by 3 1/2 lengths, in a quick time of 1:21.46.
Told It All rallied wide from last to finish second, and Wave Baby wound up third in the eight-horse field. Desolator was scratched.
It was the second year in a row that Rafael Hernandez guided Not So Quiet to victory in the Overskate. They also combined to win the Vice Regent Stakes on the grass for the second consecutive year on Sept. 11.
“Last race, he impressed me on the turf,” Hernandez said. “He (got) left out of the gate and came running down the lane. It was the most impressive race he’d done so far. He does anything - turf, synthetic; can be on the lead; come from off the pace. It doesn’t matter how the race sets up for him. He finds a way to keep going.”
A 6-year-old Silent Name gelding, Not So Quiet earned $60,000 for owner-breeder Heste Sport Inc.
