Not So Quiet notches second straight Vice Regent victory

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Rafael Hernandez completed a sweep of the two Saturday stakes at Woodbine with a lovely ride on 3-2 favorite Not So Quiet in the $150,000 Vice Regent, a five-furlong inner turf dash for Ontario-sired runners.
Not So Quiet won last year’s Vice Regent from near the lead, but the son of Silent Name rallied along the rail from the rear of the field to take Saturday’s renewal by 1 1/2 lengths over 44-1 pacesetter Rockcrest. The final time was 56.25.
“The plan was to be close to the pace because at five-eighths, you have to be on the engine,” Hernandez said. “But the horse next to me in the gate acted a little weird, and then my horse started to get nervous. They opened the gate, and he came out a little bit slow, but we came out with Plan B, and everything came out good.”
Earlier on the card, Hernandez won the Grade 3 Seagram Cup on Tap It to Win.
Not So Quiet ($5) earned $90,000 for owner-breeder Heste Sport Inc. He was the third winner on the card for leading trainer Mark Casse.
After going four-wide on the turn, City Boy finished three lengths back in third. He was followed by Souper Hot, Celebratory, Forester’s Fortune, Circle of Friends and Alacritous.
