Northview Stallion Station, a perennial leader in the Mid-Atlantic region, will sell its Pennsylvania property and consolidate its operations on its Maryland division, it announced Monday. The 180-acre property in Peach Bottom, Pa., will be listed with Patterson-Price Real Estate, one of the largest agricultural real estate companies in the region. It will continue to operate normally, with no changes to the 2020 breeding season or mare bookings, until the property is sold or until fall, at which time the resident stallions will be moved to the Maryland division. "While there is no guarantee that an individual or group will purchase the farm with the intention of carrying on our vision, we certainly hope that is the case," Northview general manager David Wade and vice president Michael Golden said in a statement to clients. “This has not been a hastily made decision and is unrelated to the Pennsylvania political climate or COVID-19, as we know some will surmise. Pennsylvania has a strong racing and breeding industry that we are certain will continue to grow and prosper, but it’s not where Northview needs to be at this point.” :: To stay up to date, follow us on: Facebook | Instagram | Twitter Northview PA stood the late Jump Start, a perennial leading sire in Pennsylvania, and brought another major stallion prospect to the region last year in multiple Grade 1 winner and multi-millionaire Hoppertunity, whose first foals are arriving now. The farm also stands Peace and Justice and Uncle Lino, both of whom are freshmen of 2020, and Medallist, who has been on the Pennsylvania roster since the farm opened. Northview Stallion Station in Maryland opened its doors in 1989, and the Chesapeake City, Md., base has been home to the likes of Maryland's perennial leading sire Not For Love. Current farm resident Great Notion has ably picked up the baton from that late stallion, finishing as Maryland's leading sire of 2019. The Maryland farm also stands Bandbox and Redeemed, both in the top 10 on the state's general sire list last year; Golden Lad, the state's leading freshman of 2019; Madefromlucky, whose first foals are yearlings; and Irish War Cry, whose first foals are arriving now.
