Northlands Park: Notoriously pulls away to upset Madamoiselle

Notoriously upset Summer Song in the $50,000 Madamoiselle for fillies and mares at Northlands Park on Monday. She paid $14.40 to win.

The champion 3-year-old filly in Alberta in 2010, Notoriously had colic earlier in the year and trainer Rod Cone did a great job of having her ready for a strong performance in the Madamoiselle. With Tony Maragh riding, Notoriously and Seeyouonbroadway set very slow fractions of 25.60 and 50.80 in the 1 1/16-mile race before Notoriously began to pull away on the stretch turn. She opened up a clear lead at the top of the stretch and easily held off Summer Song who was in a stalking position early. The final time for the 1 1/16 miles was 1:46.00.

Notoriously earned $30,000 for owner Darrell Landry.
