Northlands: Claresmiezie in another league in Princess Margaret Stakes

Claresmiezie, ($2.40) toyed with her rivals in the $50,000 Princess Margaret for 2-year-old fillies at Northlands Park on Friday evening.

With Fernando Perez aboard, Claresmiezie broke sharply from the rail and was in hand while posting fractions of 23.20 and 47 seconds in the six-furlong sprint. She took a two-length lead into the stretch and when Perez let out a notch in mid-stretch she exploded and went on to win by 15 1/2 lengths over Spirits West, who made a late move to get up for second. Leolas Girl, who chased Claresmiezie early, held on to finish third. The final time was 1:12.

Trained by Greg Tracy, Claresmiezie earned $30,000 for Riversedge Racing Stables Ltd. who bought her privately for $45,000 after she went unplaced in her debut at Keeneland. The win brought Claresmiezie’s earnings to $72,143.
