Northfield: World record performance by Guinevere Hall in Ohio Sires Stakes

Guinevere Hall lowered the world record for 3-year-old trotting fillies on a half-mile track by a fifth of a second to 1:53 in winning the first of two $50,000 Ohio Sires Stakes sections on Friday evening at Northfield Park. A Fancy Face pulled a 9-1 upset in the other flight.
Driven by Peter Wrenn, Guinevere Hall was third at the 28 3/5 opening quarter that was put on the board by Tootie (Brett Miller) but brushed to the lead before the 56 2/5 half-mile station. Guinevere Hall stayed clear on the front-end to the 1:25 1/5 three-quarters and polished off the record mile with a 27 4/5 final kicker, defeating Tootie by three lengths. Delovely Hall (Aaron Merriman) was the third-place finisher.
The time of 1:53 eclipsed the previous mark of 1:53 1/5 that belonged to Frau Blucher from 2013 at the Delaware County Fair and Plunge Blue Chip from 2018 at Yonkers Raceway.
Melanie Wrenn trains Guinevere Hall, a daughter of Cash Hall, for owners M T Pockets Stables and David McDuffee. This was Guinevere Hall's sixth career win, and she has now earned $199,181. The 2-5 favorite, she paid $2.80 to win.
In the other grouping Uncle Peters Love (B. Miller) led early but released Kikimora (Merriman) to the point after the 27 3/5 first quarter. Uncle Peters Love re-moved to the front almost immediately and would go on to hit the half in 56 3/5 and the three-quarters in 1:26, with A Fancy Face (Chris Page) advancing steadily first-over at three-quarters.
On the far turn A Fancy Face forged her way around Uncle Peters Love, who would then made a break, and A Fancy Face kept in command to the wire, prevailing by 2 1/4 lengths in 1:54 3/5. Dream Change (Greg Grismore) got up for second ahead of Kikimora.
A Fancy Face is a My MVP filly trained by Ron Burke for owners Burke Racing Stable LLC., Hatfield Stables, J&T Silva- Purnel & Libby, and Weaver Bruscemi LLC. A Fancy Face, who did not make a pari-mutuel start as a 2-year-old, broke her maiden in her fourth start and has now put away $40,075. She returned $20.80 to win.
