Northfield: Tuesday 8/19 Analysis + Pick Four ticket

Jeremey Day|Aug 18, 2014
Northfield Logo (#2)

Race 8 - $10,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Jeremey’s $1 Pick Four Play:

4,5 / 5 / 4,5,6 / 1,2,5,9 = $24

Best Bet: SOULFUL DELIGHT (9th)

Spot Play: PERFECT HEART BEAT (1st)

Race 1

(6) PERFECT HEART BEAT has the same number of wins as the entire field combined and should offer a nice price. (5) MOLLY'S TROLLEY will also offer value and owns a decent burst of speed when timed right. (9) KEYSTONE SWAGGER has really been crawling home and could use a smooth trip.

Race 2

(4) LOTSA JUICE had excuses in her last two; threat. (7) ACTION AUBREE ROSA gets sent out for proven connections. (3) IN THE SWIM is a lightly raced 3-year-old gelding that makes his first start for a new trainer. The pacer also gets a big driver change.

Race 3

(2) CHANGE THE FUTURE takes a big drop in class and was the driver's choice. (1) HERBEDAONE gets the rail against a much softer bunch. (5) LETS JUST DANCE has some positives including second time Lasix and a better post.

Race 4

In an evenly matched race, (9) TERROR OF THETRACK needs a fast pace to close into in addition to some racing luck. (7) OSBORNE'S YANKEE gets a low percentage pilot but has been pacing consistent miles. (3) MR GREEN looks to offer low value off his last line; use caution.

Race 5

(5) BERLIN HALL is a well-bred trotter that will be tough to beat if he stays trotting. (9) SCREAMIN DREAMIN takes a significant drop in class and just needs to be closer turning for home. (2) HOWDY DEWEY looks terrible on paper but does switch barns. The 4-year-old was much better for this trainer a few months ago.

Race 6

In a suspect field, (3) QUICK KIL has yet to win on the year but owns a good burst of speed; versatile. (2) LUCKEY REI should be in a great spot turning for home due to his good gate speed. (1) BACKDRAFT HANOVER is capable with a trip but needs some racing luck.

Race 7

(7) I KNOW YOUR LOOKIN needed his first start back coming off a long layoff and should be much sharper. (2) SF TERRIFIC KISSER went from awesome to empty last out. Surprisingly the pacer took very little money off a big mile in his previous race. Watch the tote board early because he could be sitting on a much better effort. (5) HERSHEY PLEASE just needs to avoid an early skirmish for a piece.

Race 8

(5) ROYAL CAM-HALL goes out for a driver/trainer combo that are hitting at a high percentage; big chance. (4) NUTMEGS GIGILO fits at this level nicely and is one of few contenders in the race. (9) T R KILOWATT SAM needs to get a good spot out of the gate for his best chance late.

Race 9

(5) SOULFUL DELIGHT is a well-bred gelding that owns tons of back class. He just needs to stay trotting to get his picture taken. (3) SKY LAV should offer a big price and could hit the ticket with a smooth trip. (9) MYSTERY XPOSED could be the sleeper in the race should the top choice falter.

Race 10

(5) RUST BELT has some issues but is a major player if he can mind his manners. (6) DUTCHTREAT HANOVER has been knocking on the door and is coming into the race off a huge effort from a tough post. (4) REAL SAMART gets sent out for a streaky trainer and has the ability to pull the upset.

Race 11

(2) JEREME ROCKS owns only one win on the year but finds a wide open race. (9) HIT BY LIGHTNING will offer low value and could be hampered by the second tier. (1) CODYTHECLOWN is inconsistent from week to week but a good effort puts him on the ticket.

Race 12

In a very tough race to handicap, (9) BLUE PUNCH will offer a big price, needed his last start, and should have more to offer. (2) LIMA THUNDER is the horse to beat on paper but the pacer's track record is suspect at best; use caution. (5) CHIPS GALORE has just been racing evenly but finds a wide open and evenly matched race.

Race 13

(6) GLASS PACK is nearing a million in earnings and the connections have had some blowout winners recently. (9) NOBLE FITCH had excuses in his last start and just needs to race back to his prior effort for a chance late. (2) KINGS MIDAS TOUGH was sneaky sharp last out, closing good ground from a tough post.

Race 14

In a really weak and inconsistent field, (3) INGLORIOUS MUSTARD is capable of big miles from time to time and will offer a fair price. (2) NUKES FORTUNATESON is winless for the year but just needs to get a decent spot out of the gate for a chance to hit the ticket. (4) SPARE TIME GINO has been competitive at this level.

Race 15

(3) SHAM'S BIG GUY is just now rounding back into racing shape and comes off a huge effort. (5) OUR CROWN LAW N comes off a powerhouse performance, however the low percentage pilot is a concern. (2) WILLIE'S PLACE is racing gamely and just missed last out.
