Northfield Park: Track records fall in Ohio Sires Stakes

The track records for both a 2-year-old colt trotter and a 2-year-old filly trotter were lowered in Ohio Sires Stakes action on Monday night at Northfield Park.
Wittyville (Chris Page) dropped the record for a rookie colt trotter from 1:56 3/5 to 1:56 2/5 in winning the third $40,000 split for the males. He advanced into the lead from first-up passing the 1:28 three-quarters and went on to prevail by three lengths over Lane Of Stone (Jeff Nisonger). Cravin For Cash (Greg Grismore) was the third-place finisher.
A colt by Manofmanymissions and out of the S J's Photo mare Witty Girl, Wittyville is trained by Ron Burke for co-owner/breeder Knox Services Inc. and co-owners Burke Racing Stable LLC. and Weaver Bruscemi LLC. This was Wittyville's first win in his fourth attempt, and he has now earned $28,510. He was a 4-1 shot and paid $10.80 to win.
Only Take Cash (Aaron Merriman) did the honors on the filly side, trotting a 1:56 4/5 mile in the second $40,000 grouping to better the previous track mark by a fifth of a second. Only Take Cash, the 1-5 favorite, led the way through panels of 29 2/5, 1:00, and 1:29 1/5, put away a first-over try from Aunt Rose (Ronnie Wrenn Jr.) and drew away to win by 4 3/4 lengths over Stone In Love (Page). See Me Sparkle (Tyler Smith) checked in third.
By Cash Hall, Only Take Cash is trained by Bob McIntosh, who also owns the filly with partners Dave Boyle and Mardon Stables. Only Take Cash has a record of 4-1-0 from five trips behind the gate, and she has now pocketed $77,370. McIntosh and C S X Stables bred Only Take Cash, who is out of the Garland Lobell mare Armbro Affair (1:53 4/5, $430,997). Only Take Cash returned $2.60 to win.
In addition to their win with Wittyville, Page and Burke also joined forces to annex a colt trot flight in 1:58 with Dylan The Great, a son of Break The Bank K. Racing for Burke Racing Stable LLC., Larry Karr, J&T Silva- Purnel & Libby, and Weaver Bruscemi LLC., Dylan The Great now has a trio of triumphs in his career to go with a bankroll of $56,400. He was the 3-5 choice and paid $3.20 to win.
Merriman also had another sire stakes winner on the night, that being Uncle Peter colt Peter Trottintail. He worked out a pocket trip and came up the passing lane to stop the clock in 1:59 4/5 for co-owner/trainer Miles Wollam and co-owners Renna Wollam and Rhett Roll. Peter Trottintail, who returned $17.20 to win as a 7-1 offering, broke his maiden in his fourth try, and he has now earned $32,000.
Wrenn Jr. also made a pair of stops in the winner's circle with Ohio Sires Stakes competitors. He won the opener for colts with Cumberland Gap, who is by Wishing Stone, in 1:57 4/5, and also kicked off the filly divisions with a score behind Back Splash, a daughter of Triumphant Caviar, in 1:57 3/5. Cumberland Gap, who was favored and paid $4.60 to win, is now a four-time winner and earner of $53,570 for co-owner/trainer Renee Bauslaugh and co-owner Charles Stillings, and Back Splash, who returned $12.00 to win as a 5-1 offering, posted the initial win of her career and has now put away $33,292 for co-owner/trainer Chris Beaver and his partners Donald Robinson, Steve Zeehandelar, and Rbh Ventures Inc.
Completing the Ohio Sires Stakes winners for the night was Full Count filly Princessofpink. Driven by Kurt Sugg, she was on point through stations of 28 1/5, 58 3/5, and 1:27 3/5, and repelled first-up challenger Vivi D (Kyle Ater) and passing lane-rallying Bella's Rose Power (Merriman) to tally in 1:58.
Marty Wollam trains Princessofpink and also co-owners her with Toni Dean and Lori Manke. Princessofpink made her first appearance in the winner's circle, and she now shows $35,825 in earnings. A 3-1 shot, she paid $8.60 to win.
