Northfield Park: Noble doubles in Ohio Sires Stakes

Driver Dan Noble swept the two $50,000 Ohio Sires Stakes divisions for 3-year-old pacing colts on Saturday night at Northfield Park, guiding Bounding Dragon and Rockathon to victory.
Bounding Dragon got away fourth from the pole position in the first split, but he would brush into the lead before the 55 1/5 half. After getting to three-quarters in 1:22 4/5, a 28 2/5 final kicker got Bounding Dragon to the wire 2 1/4 lengths ahead of Jojo's Pet Rock (Tyler Smith). Early leader Slick Mick (Chris Page) was the third-place finisher.
Mike Roth trains the winner, a Dragon Again colt, for owners Alan Keith, Carl Atley, and Melanie Atley. This was Bounding Dragon's seventh career win, and he has now earned $161,659. He was the 1-5 favorite and paid $2.60 to win.
In the other flight Rockathon went all the way on the lead, clicking off stations of 27, 55 1/5, and 1:23 3/5 on his way to a 1:51 4/5 victory. He defeated Seeing Eye Single (Ronnie Wrenn Jr.) by 2 1/2 lengths, with Lets All Rock (Smith) elevated from fourth to third after original third-place finisher Sectionline Bigry (Aaron Merriman) was placed back to sixth for causing interference in the lane.
Rockathon, a gelded son of Pet Rock, is trained by Kim Dailey, who also co-owns with Carl and Melanie Atley. Rockathon is now a seven-time winner in his life, and he has banked $211,012. He was the even-money favorite and returned $4.00 to win.
