Northfield Park: Familiar faces get the job done in Ohio Sires Stakes contests

Rookie pacing males Rose Run Ulysses, Authentic Hanover, High On Paydaze, and See You In Tuscany all backed up their victories from Ohio Sires Stakes action on July 4 at Scioto Downs by repeating on Monday at Northfield Park.
Authentic Hanover (Tyler Smith) was the swiftest winner, taking the second $40,000 grouping in 1:53 4/5. He brushed from fourth to first going to the 56 4/5 half, turned away pocket-sitter Dislocator (Chris Page) at the 1:25 three-quarters, and kicked away to win by 5 1/4 lengths. Dislocator held second, with Petacular Rock (Jack Dailey) third.
A colt from the first crop of Western Vintage, Authentic Hanover is trained by Dustin Arledge, who also co-owns with Hutchison Harness LLC. and Mary Thompson. Authentic Hanover, who was bred by Hanover Shoe Farms Inc. and sold for $18,000 at the Ohio Select Yearling Sale, has banked $45,000 and has won all three of his career starts. He is out of the Artsplace mare Armbro Amoretto (1:50 1/5, $1,285,744), the 2002 Breeders Crown 2-Year-Old Filly Pace winner. She has produced four six-figure earners, topped by the Bettor's Delight gelding Bet You (1:50 3/5, $397,452). Authentic Hanover was the 4-5 favorite and paid $3.60 to win.
Western Vintage also sired the winner of the first division in Rose Run Ulysses (Dan Noble). Rose Run Ulysses led at the 28 second opening quarter, released Black Smile (Chris Page) to the top, and followed that one through middle-half stations of 57 2/5 and 1:26. Noble brought Rose Run Ulysses back to the outside for the stretch drive, and he would out-finish Black Smile, winning by three-parts of a length in 1:54 4/5. Big Pocket Teen (Josh Sutton) rallied for third at 93-1.
Kimberly Dailey trains and co-owns the victorious gelding with partners Carl and Melanie Atley. Rose Run Ulysses, who fetched $19,000 at the Buckeye Yearling Sale, is now two-for-two in the win column with $40,000 in earnings. Bred by Rose Run Farm, Rose Run Ulysses is out of the Good News Scooter mare Alcyon Semalu (1:56, $37,802), making him a half-brother to Style Semalu (Million Dollar Cam, 1:51, $436,003). The 4-5 choice, Rose Run Ulysses returned $3.60 to win.

The heavens opened up with a downpour during the third section, and Easeondowntheroad (Noble) fronted his eight rivals to the opening quarter in 27 4/5 and the half in 56 3/5. High On Paydaze (Ronnie Wrenn Jr.) had watched from the pocket, but he came to the outside to engage the leader at the 1:25 3/5 three-quarters, and he took control shortly after that point. From there, High On Paydaze kicked away, opening up to win by 4 1/4 lengths in 1:54 2/5, with Gold Digger King (Kayne Kauffman) and Rock N Randy V (Aaron Merriman) second and third, respectively.
High On Paydaze is a Nob Hill High colt trained by Brian Brown for co-owner/breeder Scott Hagemeyer and co-owners Robert Mondillo and Donald Robinson. Just like Rose Run Ulysses, High On Paydaze has won both of his attempts in Ohio Sires Stakes competition and has put away $40,000. High On Paydaze is out of Myell (1:56 1/5, $34,688), by The Panderosa, making High On Paydaze a half-brother to Myells Rockstar (World Of Rocknroll, 1:52 1/5, $129,326). High On Paydaze went off as the even-money favorite and paid $4.00 to win.
In the final flight 4-5 favorite Rock Candy (Wrenn Jr.) was in control at the 28 4/5 opening quarter, but he would be overtaken by R J Jetpac (Merriman), who then yielded to See You In Tuscany (Anthony MacDonald). See You In Tuscany hit the half in 58 4/5, but the action was behind him as R J Jetpac wouldn't settle in the pocket and was inside the safety lane. That meant Rock Candy was able to get into the pocket, leaving Parkes Boy (Ryan Stahl) first-up.
See You In Tuscany continued to hold sway at the 1:28 3/5 three-quarters, but Firstrockthenroll (Greg Grismore) and Tap Tap Tap (Page) were both firing wide to try and close while Rock Candy waited for the stretch. In the lane the outside pursuers stalled out, leaving See You In Tuscany and a passing lane-shooting Rock Candy to decide it, and See You In Tuscany lasted to tally by a neck in 1:57 3/5. Touch Of Dragon (Mike Wilder), who was last most of the way, came on to get third.
The victorious We Will See colt is trained by Jason McGinnis for owner Thestable Tuscany Group. Purchased for $10,000 at the Buckeye Yearling Sale, See You In Tuscany has won twice from three trips behind the gate, and he has banked $42,660. Bred by Mark Marroletti, See You In Tuscany is out of the McArdle mare McDance Desire (1:55, $22,457), a half-sister to Dapper Denzil (Red River Hanover, 1:49 4/5, $196,206). See You In Tuscany was the 5-2 second choice and returned $7.00 to win.
