Northfield: Page, Burke triple in Saturday's Ohio Sires Stakes tilts
Driver Chris Page and trainer Ron Burke teamed up for three Ohio Sires Stakes victories on Saturday night's program at MGM Northfield Park.
They won two of the four $40,000 flights for 2-year-old colt and gelding pacers, tallying with Midwind Beach Boy in 1:54 and then coming back later on the card with Outer Banks, who also stopped the clock in 1:54. Both winners are by Downbytheseaside, with Midwind Beach Boy bred by Midwind Farms and owned by Burke Racing Stable LLC., Knox Services Inc., J&T Silva- Purnel & Libby and Ras Racing LLC. and Outer Banks bred by Frank Nanna and owned by Burke Racing Stable LLC., Ras Racing LLC., J&T Silva- Purnel & Libby and Weaver Bruscemi LLC.
Sophomore pacing filly McSeaside took the second of two $55,000 splits for that group to complete Page and Burke's trifecta. Also by Downbytheseaside, McSeaside was bred by Andray Farm and Sergent Stables LLC. and is owned by Burke Racing Stable LLC., Beasty LLC., J&T Silva Stables, LLC. Knox Services Inc.
Picking up the victories in the other two Ohio Sires Stakes clashes for the rookie colt and gelding pacers were Seasideescape (by Downbytheseaside and bred by Mervin Wengerd) in 1:55 3/5 for driver Ronnie Wrenn Jr., trainer Brian Brown and owners Country Club Acres Inc., Joe Sbrocco & Jaf Racing, Don Latore and Aws Stbs LLC. and Clever Cody (by The Panderosa and bred by Marvin Raber) in 1:52 4/5 for driver Aaron Merriman, trainer Dr. Ian Moore and owner Clever Cody Stable.

Dragon By The Sea, yet another offspring of Downbytheseaside, grabbed the first Ohio Sires Stakes test for 3-year-old pacing fillies, leading all the way and scoring in 1:53 2/5 for driver Dan Noble, trainer Jeff Smith and owner John Van Horn. Dragon By The Sea was bred by Greg Pearson.
