Northfield: Luna, Alagna perfect in Ohio Sires Stakes divisions
Driver Marvin Luna and trainer Tony Alagna won both $75,000 Ohio Sires Stakes events for 3-year-old male pacers on Monday at Northfield Park with Myboypank and Up In Place.
In the first flight Myboypank sat in the pocket as Tsunami Seas (Brett Miller) cut fractions of 27, 56 4/5 and 1:25. Tsunami Seas was able to fend off a first-over bid by Crocodile Station (Dan Noble) from before three-quarters through the final bend, but when Crocodile Station faded off the turn, that gave Myboypank room to tip out. Once he had the space, Myboypank had a big enough kick and just enough time to get past Tsunami Seas, nailing him on the wire of a 1:52 2/5 mile. When Is Parade (Tyler Smith) finished third.
A Catch The Fire gelding bred by Martz Creek Farm and owned by Sam Bowie, Myboypank has a summary of 6-2-1 from 11 outings, has earned $101,070 and paid $7.20 to win as the third choice.

Up In Place improved to five-for-five this year with a 1:53 1/5 triumph in the other split. Rock Son (Noble) cut opening-half panels of 27 1/5 and 57 4/5, but Luna had Up In Place moving first-over before the half and advanced to race side-by-side with Rock Son prior to three-quarters in 1:25 1/5. Up In Place and Rock Son continued to tussle around the far turn, but Up In Place wore down Rock Son for good in the stretch before he paced clear to prevail by a length and three-quarters. Pet Project (Trevor Smith) was third from second-over.
John Barnard bred and co-owns Up In Place, a colt by Lather Up, with Alagna Racing LLC. He now has six wins and a second from 13 appearances, has pocketed $154,675 and returned $2.60 to win as the 1-5 favorite.
