Northfield: Grand slam for Wrenn Jr. in Ohio Fairs, Sires Stakes Championships

Driver Ronnie Wrenn Jr. won three $50,000 Ohio Fairs Championships and an $85,000 Ohio Sires Stakes Aged Championship on Saturday night's program at MGM Northfield Park.
Wrenn Jr.'s Fair Championships came in succession as he took the 2-year-old colt and gelding pace with Dance In Style (by Dancin Yankee and bred by Spring Haven Farm) in 1:56 2/5 for trainer Steve Novak and owner Gerald Mijal; the 2-year-old colt and gelding trot with Smokeitsteady (by Volstead and bred by Joe Schwartz) in 2:02 3/5 for co-owner/trainer Tye Loy and co-owner Roger Morlock and the 3-year-old filly pace with Lady With No Fear (by Fear The Dragon and bred by GBW Breeding Farms) in 1:54 2/5 for trainer/co-owner Sandra Hennessey and co-owner Paula Sugars.
Later on the program, Wrenn Jr. guided Coastal to an 8-1 upset in the Aged Championship for pacing mares, rallying from sixth to first in the final quarter to tally in 1:53 2/5. The victorious 4-year-old by Downbytheseaside is trained by Ron Burke for owners Burke Racing Stable LLC., J&T Silva Stables, LLC., Jason Melillo and Beasty LLC.
Chris Page won two of the other Aged Championships, taking the horse and gelding trot with 6-year-old Triumphant Caviar gelding Smoking Jet (who Page also co-owns) in 1:56 1/5 for Burke and co-owners Burke Racing Stable LLC. and Weaver Bruscemi LLC. and the horse and gelding pace with Sectionline Bigry, an 8-year-old Pet Rock gelding, in 1:52 2/5 for trainer Steve Bauder and co-breeder/owner Harold Bauder.

Also taking Fairs Championships were:
* Two-year-old filly pacer Legend N Cress (by Bit Of A Legend N and bred by Midland Acres) in 1:57 2/5 for driver Austin Hanners, trainer Steve Carter and owners Jacob Mossbarger, Ben Foor, Corey Martin and Matthew Kemper
* Two-year-old filly trotters Desert Hayz (by Uncle Peter and bred by Ellen Bellemore and Ernest Ayers) in 2:02 2/5 for co-owner/trainer/driver Greg Bateson and co-owner Hayter Stables LLC.
* Three-year-old filly trotter Frantastic L (by Team Six and bred by Andy Burkholder) in 1:58 for trainer/driver Hank Le Van and owners Le Van Stables Inc., Darmofal Racing Ent., Edward Perry and Megan Levan
