Northfield: Chalky results in Saturday's Ohio Sires Stakes

Two-year-old pacers of both sexes were at Northfield Park on Saturday night for Ohio Sires Stakes contests.

Don'ttruckwithme (Chris Lems) was the star of the show as he improved to five-for-five with a 1:53 3/5 win in the second $75,000 division for colts and geldings. Don'ttruckwithme took the lead past the 27 3/5 quarter, and after middle-half fractions of 57 1/5 and 1:25 3/5, he closed in 28 seconds to defeat The Mighty Brix (Marvin Luna) by three lengths. Into The Blaze (Ronnie Gillespie) came in third.

Wayne Mast Jr., Eden Acres Farmstead LLC. and Kirk Nichols own the Judy Roegner-bred Don'ttruckwithme and Daren Harvey is his trainer. A Catch The Fire gelding, Don'ttruckwithme has put away $228,460 to go with him unblemished record and returned $2.10 to win.

Another Catch The Fire offspring, the filly Tempting Flames, blew away her competition in the first $75,000 section for that group. With Dave Palone driving, Tempting Flames led at the 28 1/5 quarter, 57 1/5 and 1:25 three-quarters and drew off to a 14 length win in 1:52 3/5 behind a 27 3/5 final kicker. Jar Of Hearts (Gillespie) was the runner-up and Pa Lexi (Dan Noble) collected third.

Michael Hitchcock sent out Tempting Flames, who was bred by Ivy Holdings, for owner William Hartt. Tempting Flames has three wins and two seconds in five tries, has banked $153,100 and paid $2.10 to win.

Noble captured the other two splits with Monte Miki gelding Jett James (bred by Jacob Mossbarger, paid $2.40 to win) in 1:51 4/5 for owner/trainer Adam Short and Lather Up filly Party Up (bred by Vieux Carre Farms, paid $2.10 to win) in 1:54 2/5 for trainer Joe Bongiorno and owner Morrison Racing Stables.
