Northfield: Carl Milstein Memorial taking shape

David Bianconi, Executive Vice President of Racing and Simulcasting at Northfield Park has assembled a stellar field for the August 11 Carl Milstein Memorial for 3-year-old pacers. Seven of the eight spots have been filled with the winners of most of the major races expected to attend.
The $400,000 Milstein has lured North America Cup winner Lather Up, Max Hempt winner Springsteen and recent Adios winner Dorsoduro Hanover to Ohio for the track’s marquee race.
Also invited are Canadian standout Jimmy Freight, Delaware Valley star Slick Tony, Hoosier Park track record holder Always A Prince and the Jimmy Takter-trained Thinkbig Dreambig.
One final spot on the gate remains open and Bianconi is keeping his options open for a few more days.
“I want to see what happens in the Cane Pace at The Meadowlands on Saturday before I invite the last horse,” said Bianconi.
Along with the Milstein, Northfield will also host the Myron Charna, a $50,000 Invitational for 4-year-old and up Ohio-sired pacers, and Ohio Sire Stakes for 3-year-old filly pacers.
Post time for the Milstein card is 6:00 p.m. next Saturday.
