Northfield: Burke Brigade continues Ohio Sires Stakes dominance
After winning four of five Ohio Sires Stakes divisions for rookie pacers on Saturday night at Eldorado Scioto Downs, driver Chris Page and trainer Ron Burke went three-for-four in the sire stakes for 2-year-old filly trotters on Sunday night at MGM Northfield Park.
Page and Burke's first winner was Rose Run Allison (paid $2.60 to win), who was third in The Next Generation at Scioto on July 6, as she took her flight in 1:58 4/5. The Rose Run Farm-bred by Long Tom, owned by Burke Racing Stable LLC., Hatfield Stables, Knox Services Inc. and Beasty LLC., led through fractions of 29 1/5, 1:00 1/5 and 1:29 2/5 en route to a 6 1/4 length victory over Rose's Destiny (Ronnie Gillespie). Mia Sangria (Aaron Merriman) was the third-place finisher.
Brink Street (paid $12.40 to win), another Long Tom filly, then rallied from second-over for Page and Burke and won her split by a length and a quarter in 1:59 1/5. Sienna Surprise (Luke Hanners) was a length and a quarter back in second and The Next Generation champion Aunt Lilly (Anthony MacDonald), who carved out panels of 28 4/5, 59 3/5 and 1:29, faded to third. Now two-for-two in her career, Brink Street, who was bred by Jonas Schlabach, is owned by Burke Racing Stable LLC., Hatfield Stables, Weaver Bruscemi LLC. and Knox Services Inc.

Mocha Hill (paid $4.80 to win) and Page went three-wide from second-over as they raced towards the 1:29 4/5 three-quarters in the last grouping, and behind a 28 2/5 final kicker, she was able to get by pace-setter Freedom Hill (MacDonald) to take the victory by a neck in 1:58 4/5. Stars In My Crown (Tyler Smith) collected third. Mocha Hill, by What The Hill and also two-for-two like Brink Street, was bred by Franklin Equine LLC. and is owned by Burke Racing Stable LLC., Hatfield Stables, Weaver Bruscemi LLC. and Knox Services Inc.
Pretty Lil Penny (Chris Lems, paid $7.00 to win) gave first-crop sire Marseille the triumph in the only section not won by Page and Burke. She took the lead from Chrome Trim (Elliott Deaton) beyond the 29 3/5 quarter and stayed in command after that for a 1 3/4 length triumph in 1:59 3/5. Chrome Trim was the runner-up and Move Over Boys (Jeff Nisonger) collected third. Pretty Lil Penny, a Steiner Stock Farm-bred, is trained by Scott Cox and owned by Jeremy Miller and Wayne Mast Jr. She broke her maiden in her second chance.
