Normandy Invasion pensioned in order to change careers

Grade 1-placed Normandy Invasion has been pensioned from stallion duty and gelded in order to pursue a career as a sporthorse. The 10-year-old son of Tapit has been placed with the National Thoroughbred Welfare Organization, an aftercare group founded by Normandy Invasion’s racetrack owner, Rick Porter.

“Thank you to Spendthrift Farm for entrusting us to rehome their former stallion Normandy Invasion,” the NTWO posted on Twitter. “He has been gelded and will make a lovely, athletic sport horse for a lucky adopter.”
Normandy Invasion finished on the board in four stakes, highlighted by a runner-up effort in the Grade 1 Wood Memorial in 2013, beaten three-quarters of a length by Verrazano. He was acquired by Spendthrift and entered stud in 2016 at Keane Stud in New York before later standing at Spendthrift in Kentucky. He stood his final breeding season in 2020 at Pin Oak Lane Farm in Pennsylvania. From his first two crops of racing age, he is the sire of 13 winners, including stakes-placed Galaxy Invasion.
