Norman gets double win

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas - Trainer Cole Norman, who is battling three-time defending champ Steve Asmussen for the Lone Star Park title, picked up two wins in one race Sunday when his charges Total Anticipation ($2.40) and Parting Guest ($2.60) dead-heated for the win in the first. The horses helped push Norman's victory total this meet to 67.

Asmussen has won 59 races at the meet to rank second to Norman, but took the lead in the national standings this week after sending out 10 winners at Lone Star. Asmussen now leads trainer Scott Lake in wins this year, 180 to 176. Norman is the nation's fourth-leading trainer in wins with 112.

Overall last week, Norman and Asmussen combined to win 20 of the 47 races run at Lone Star.
