Norman Asbjornson retired to Pin Oak Lane in Pennsylvania
Grade 3-placed multiple stakes winner Norman Asbjornson has been retired from racing and will stand the 2014 breeding season at Pin Oak Lane in New Freedom, Pa.
The 6-year-old son of Real Quiet will stand his initial season for an advertised fee of $2,500, or $1,500 for multiple mares.
Norman Asbjornson, a regular in stakes across the Mid-Atlantic, finished his on-track career with six wins in 26 starts over four seasons of racing for earnings of $536,600. His most notable victories came in 2013, winning the listed Harrison E. Johnson Memorial Stakes at Laurel Park and the Roanoke Stakes at Parx. Earlier in his career, Norman Asbjornson finished in the money in the Grade 3 Gotham Stakes and Excelsior Stakes.
He raced as a Pennsylvania homebred for owners Thomas McClay and Harry Nye III, and was co-bred by Horseshoe Valley Equine. Christopher Grove trained the horse for the majority of his career, before he was moved to the barn of Carlos Mancilla.
Norman Asbjornson is out of the stakes-winning Citidancer mare Merryland Missy, whose four winners from as many foals to race also includes stakes winner Essenceofthemoon. His extended family includes Group 1 winner Representing, Grade 2 winners Anthony’s Cross, Ratings and Smart Bid, and Grade 3 winner Fugitive Angel.
