Nonna Madeline wins Lady's Secret stretch battle with Royal Flag

Nonna Madeline fought off Royal Flag to win the $100,000 Lady’s Secret in a photo Wednesday at Monmouth Park. A nose separated the fillies at the wire, while it was another 3 1/4 lengths back to Another Broad in third.
The Lady’s Secret was a mile and a sixteenth race for fillies and mares.
Nonna Madeline ($4.80) was always prominent, tracking Gotham Gala through fractions of 24.88 seconds for the opening quarter and 49.42 for the half-mile. Nonna Madeline moved to the fore through six furlongs in 1:13.57 and dueled the length of the stretch with Royal Flag.
The winner covered the distance on a fast track in 1:44.09.

Nik Juarez was aboard Nonna Madeline for trainer Todd Pletcher, who also is the trainer of Another Broad.
Nonna Madeline is a daughter of Candy Ride who races for Teresa Viola Racing Stable and St. Elias Stable. She was winning the second stakes race of her career. Overall, she has a record of four wins from 12 starts and earnings of $263,128.
