No wagering on Freshman

The Ohio Freshman Sire Stakes failed to attract the six betting interests needed under Ohio Racing Commission rules and will be run as a nonparimutuel race before Saturday's card at Beulah. Originally scheduled to have a purse of $50,000, the one-mile race for 2-year-old Ohio-breds will have a purse of $17,500.

Under Ohio Racing Commission rules, the purse in an exhibition race is limited to the money supplied by the Ohio Thoroughbred Fund. Six horses were entered in the Freshman, but with two coupled entries, only four betting interests would be represented.
