ETOBICOKE, Ontario – The impressive Woodbine Oaks winner No Time was tabbed as the 7-2 favorite for Saturday’s $1 million King’s Plate during Tuesday's draw for the 166th running of Canada’s most famous race.   Trained by Mark Casse for owner Gary Barber, No Time drew post 10 in the 13-horse field of Canadian-bred 3-year-olds. She will try to become the third filly to win the 1 1/4-mile Tapeta event in this decade after Moira (2022) and Caitlinhergrtness (2024).   No Time earned a big 88 Beyer Speed Figure when taking the July 20 Woodbine Oaks over Shifty and Winterberry. John Velazquez will ride her again in his quest to win the Plate for the second time.   Plate Trial runner-up Notorious Gangster was made the 9-2 second choice from post 3 under Fraser Aebly. He was stalled in traffic in the 1 1/8-mile Trial before closing for second behind upstart Sedburys Ghost. He’s trying to become the first horse to win the Plate and the previous year’s Coronation Futurity since Norcliffe in 1975-76. :: Access the most trusted data and information in horse racing! The son of elite sire Justify is a half-brother to Woodbine Oaks winner Dixie Moon and Plate Trial winner Guy Caballero. A victory by Tom’s Magic would put Rafael Hernandez in a tie for the winningest jockey in the race’s history with four victories.   Sedburys Ghost rates next in line at 6-1 and is certainly eligible to outrun his odds. He got an 85 Beyer when landing his first stakes win in the Plate Trial, which was run .23 of a second slower than No Time’s clocking of 1:50.37 in the Woodbine Oaks on the same card. Both Jockey Ryan Munger and trainer Barbara Minshall are seeking their first Plate triumph with the son of 2015 Queen’s Plate victor Shaman Ghost.   Kevin Attard, the trainer of Moira and Caitlinhergrtness, sends out Grade 3 Marine winner Mansetti (10-1), Dewolf (30-1), and Faber (30-1). Mansetti put up a 79 Beyer when winning the 1 1/16-mile Marine over Scorching.   Scorching (10-1) went on to finish third after attending a quick pace in the Plate Trial. He got a late start to the season in the Marine after getting scratched from the March 1 Gotham at Aqueduct by trainer John Charalambous due to illness.   Runaway Again (12-1) is trying to become the first horse in the modern history of the Plate to prevail in his second career start. His July 13 debut was a good one. The 1 1/16-mile maiden special weight was moved from the turf to the Tapeta, and he won by 9 1/4 lengths with an 83 Beyer under Munger. Javier Castellano picks up the mount for trainer Sid Attard.   The Casse-trained Ashley’s Archer (12-1) also is in with a shot. He returned from a layoff to finish a close second against older allowance opponents July 13.   Rounding out the field are William T (20-1), Mythical Man (50-1), and Watsonville Red (50-1). :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
