No return date determined for Sharing

Sharing wins the 2020 Edgewood Stakes at Churchill
Debra A. Roma Sharing's 2020 season was highlighted by this victory in the Grade 2 Edgewood at Churchill Downs.

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Sharing, who missed the Breeders’ Cup due to a chronic foot issue, is at Stonestreet Farm with no definite schedule set regarding her return to training, trainer Graham Motion said this week.

Sharing started four times last year as a 3-year-old, winning the Grade 2 Edgewood at Churchill Downs following her second-place finish in the Group 1 Coronation Stakes late last spring at Ascot. She closed out the season finishing third, beaten 2 3/4 lengths, in the Grade 1 American Oaks on Dec. 26 at Santa Anita.

“She’s gone back to Stonestreet, where she was originally broken, for a break,” Motion said. “She struggled with a bruised heel for a while last season, but Ian McKinlay has really helped us with her and I think she finally turned the corner during the fall. I’m not sure when she will make it back to the races. Keeneland might come up a bit soon. We’ll just have to wait and see.”

Motion also is bullish on the latest turf star to join his barn, the undefeated 3-year-old filly Mia Martina, who rallied from last to a 1 1/2-length allowance win here Sunday. Mia Martina was purchased privately by Eclipse Thoroughbreds after capturing her career debut in similar late-running fashion at Gulfstream Park West for trainer Juan Carlos Avila.

“She’s been pretty straightforward, done everything nicely since she came to our barn,” Motion said. “I really wanted to run her back against Florida-breds, but the race didn’t fill, so the one Sunday was the next logical spot. I thought her effort was particularly impressive since she rallied off a slow pace, which is tough to do at Gulfstream.”

Motion said Mia Martina would likely make her next start in the Grade 3 Florida Oaks on March 6 at Tampa Bay Downs.
