No decision yet on Super Saver's future

Marty McGee|Sep 24, 2010

Super Saver, the 2010 Kentucky Derby winner recently sidelined by bruising in his cannon bones, continues to tack-walk at WinStar Farm in Versailles, Ky., and is a picture of health, according to Elliott Walden, racing manager for the powerhouse stable.

Walden said he has heard speculation that Super Saver will be retired from racing, but he reiterated Friday that no decision has been made by WinStar owners Bill Casner and Kenny Troutt in that regard.

“The horse sure does look good, I’ll say that,” Walden said.

Super Saver was very disappointing after capturing the 136th Derby, finishing eighth in the Preakness, fourth in the Haskell, and 10th in the Travers. A veterinary examination following the Travers found him with the bone bruising.
