HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – A pair of allowance races highlight a 10-race Easter Sunday program at Gulfstream Park. The sixth race is a seven-furlong allowance dash over the main track that drew a field of seven, led by Nitrous Channel and Starship Renegade.
Nitrous Channel returns to more suitable company after finishing ninth in the Grade 2 Gulfstream Park Mile on March 4. The speedy 4-year-old had his chances compromised after bobbling leaving the starting gate. The performance was the first poor one for Nitrous Channel, who had registered two wins and two seconds in four previous outings, including a second-place finish as the 1-2 favorite in the 2022 Hutcheson.

Starship Renegade has improved by leaps and bounds since the start of the year, having sandwiched a pair of allowance victories around a second-place finish behind the red-hot Celestial Glaze on Feb. 12. Starship Renegade’s Beyer Speed Figures have increased dramatically since the end of his 2022 campaign, peaking at a career-best 96 following his game half-length decision over Gangly going 6 1/2 furlongs in his last outing.
Nitrous Channel figures to have company on the front end with American Prince in the lineup. American Prince comes into the race off a half-length victory over first-level allowance company going a mile on Feb. 25. He was claimed for $25,000 out of that race and for $35,000 out of his previous race.
Almanzo, who brings a two-race win streak into the race, Laughing Boy, Doc Amster, and Logico complete the field.
