Nice matchup between Terra's Angel and Cowgirls Like Us

Multiple stakes winners Terra’s Angel and Cowgirls Like Us will get a rematch in Friday night’s featured eighth race at Sam Houston.

The optional $30,000 claiming race at a mile on turf is for fillies and mares. It has drawn a field of eight.

Terra’s Angel and Cowgirls Like Us finished a head apart when they last meet, with Terra’s Angel winning an optional $40,000 claiming race at 1 1/16 miles on the grass last July at Lone Star Park. Cowgirls Like Us fought to the wire, finishing second after having won back-to-back races in Texas.

Terra’s Angel enters Friday night’s race off a runner-up finish in an optional $40,000 claiming race at a mile on turf Feb. 22 at Sam Houston. Ernesto Valdez-Jiminez again has the mount for trainer Terry Eoff.

Cowgirls Like Us makes her second start off a layoff. Deshawn Parker, who won four races Tuesday at Sam Houston, has the mount for trainer Bret Calhoun.

Curlin’s Journey also will get support off a third-place finish in the same race Terra’s Angel exits. Danny Sorenson has the mount for trainer Dallas Keen.
