New Remington dates approved

The dates Remington Park in Oklahoma City will race in 2003 were amended Thursday by the Oklahoma Racing Commission, which adopted a new proposal from the track. The new schedule increases the total number of race dates at Remington next year from 70 to 82 and has support of the state's major horsemen's groups.

Remington, owned by Magna Entertainment, will run a 13-day mixed meet for Quarter Horse, Paints, and Appaloosas from June 27 to July 20. That meet will be followed by a 12-day mixed season for Thoroughbreds and Quarter Horses from July 25 to Aug. 17. From there, Remington will run a 57-day Thoroughbred meet from Aug. 22 to Nov. 30.

Also at the meeting, the commission awarded Blue Ribbon Downs in Sallisaw an 84-day meet from Feb. 1 to Nov. 30.
