The bar was raised for both an eighth and a quarter of a mile breezes on Tuesday during the second day of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. spring 2-year-olds in training sale under-tack show. The horses worked over the Ocala Training Center’s all-weather Safetrack surface. Setting the new time to beat at an eighth of a mile was Hip 370, a Street Boss filly who covered the distance in 9 4/5 seconds. She is out of the winning Not For Love mare For Passion, whose three foals to race are all winners including Grade 3-placed stakes winner Soul Driver, who is also by Street Boss. Her third dam is the Chilean champion Maria Fumata, who is the pivot point for runners including Grade 1 winner Victor's Cry and stakes winner Electrode. She was bred in Kentucky by John Penn. :: Get breeding & sales news, Beyer info, and more delivered right to your email! Grassroots Training & Sales consigns the filly, as agent. The operation bought the filly for $110,000 at last year’s Keeneland September yearling sale. The new fastest time at two furlongs was 20 3/5 seconds, set by Hip 367, a first-crop Alpha colt. Bred in New York by Sequel Stallions New York, the colt is out of the unplaced Silver Deputy mare Forever Valentine, whose six winners from seven runners includes stakes winner Force and Grade 3-placed Beau's Valentine. His extended family features Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf winner More Than Real and Grade 3 winner Katahula County. Jose Munoz consigns the colt, as agent. Munoz bought him for $18,000 at last year’s Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. October yearling sale. The OBS spring under-tack show continues daily through Saturday, beginning at 8 a.m. Eastern.
