New exotic bets added for Del Mar summer meeting

Del Mar is adding an early pick four and a late pick five to the betting menu for the summer meeting, which begins on July 18.

A 50-cent early pick four will start on the second race. The 50-cent late pick five will encompass the final five races. There will be a late pick four on the final four races and a 50-cent pick five on the first five races.

Santa Anita had similar bets at its meeting earlier this year.

Del Mar will offer $2 parlay wagering in win, place, and show pools. Parlay wagering was reintroduced earlier this year at Santa Anita after a multiyear absence. The bet provides customers with the flexibility to mix different pools in races, if desired, such as a win bet, two place bets, and a show bet, or countless other permutations. Parlay wagering will be available on a minimum of two races or as many as six.

Del Mar will have two mandatory payouts in the jackpot pick six – Aug. 18, the day of the Pacific Classic, and closing day, Sept. 3.
