Mohawk Logo

Top Pick Stats: 325/1006 (-$426.80)

Best Bets: 40/90 (-$17.10); Spot Plays: 20/93 (-$68.90)

Best Bet: CHRISTOPHER DANCE N (Race 8)

Spot Play: SEACLUSION N (Race 5)

Early Pick-5: 2/2,7/4,8/4/3,4,7,10 $3.20

Middle Pick-5: 3,5/1,9/2/1/5,6 $1.60

Late Pick-5: 2/1/5,6/2,3,4,6,8/1,2 $4.00

Race 1: FILLIES & MARES, NW $2,500 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $6,500 LAST 8 STARTS. (W/O $12,000 LAST 8 STARTS N/E). AE: OPT. CLM. $20,000.

(2) LADYTERRA drops in class again and finds a spot where she really should wake up. She was out of position last week; I don’t expect that this time. (5) CHIEFS DREAM GIRL took significant support last week but was also out of position. She could show gate speed this time. (4) WESTERN WISH still isn’t in that great of form but gets a drop and should be in the mix.

Race 2: POP UP SERIES: H&G STARTERS FOR A PURSE OF $12,000 OR LESS IN LAST 4 STARTS. (W/O $50,000 IN 2026 N/E). AE: N/A $2,000 P/S IN 2025-26. LEG 1. (SAT/SUN).

(2) DIAMOND RYDER shattered his lifetime best after getting a perfect trip and a lane up the inside. I think his early speed puts him in a good spot again. (7) LAMBORGHINI LOU cruised in his latest after getting an aggressive steer. That’s something I don’t think we’ve ever seen from him on the big track. That could unlock more. (1) STICKEMINLETHIMGO just held on for the win in his latest, continuing his sharp form as of late. He should be competitive against this group.

Race 3: POP UP SERIES: H&G STARTERS FOR A PURSE OF $12,000 OR LESS IN LAST 4 STARTS. (W/O $50,000 IN 2026 N/E). AE: N/A $2,000 P/S IN 2025-26. LEG 1. (SAT/SUN).

(8) DALTON SHARD N produced an excellent rally on debut and won from a spot that not many win from at Grand River. He looks like he could fit with this group. (4) CODENAME CIGAR BOX got a perfect trip in his latest and used that to get a confidence boosting win. I would expect him to use gate speed again from this post. (6) LEGION SEELSTER only missed by a length after a grinding trip. He is more of a grinder than a front end type; I’ll use him underneath tonight.

Race 4: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GOLD LEG 2. 3 YEAR OLD TROTTING FILLIES. STARTING FEE $900 CDN ($700 USD).

(4) BLUE JEAN GAL never got a chance for clear sailing in the final half last week. She was trapped multiple times including at the wire. I’ll look for her to rebound tonight. (8) HP CRYSTALINE was short last week but finds a group that mainly consists of overnight stock. She should be much better tonight. (2) JUST BUSINESS gets post relief after a solid rally to finish in the money. She has shown flashy final quarters that could set her up to get a piece of the big pot.

Race 5: FILLIES & MARES, NW $6,500 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $12,000 LAST 8 STARTS. AE: OPT. CLM. $30,000. AE: N/A $2,265 P/S IN 2025-2026.

I’m not sure if (7) SEACLUSION N can bring the same fire she had on the front last week, but I think they’re going to try. She could bottom these out if she is right. (3) ETERNAL DELIGHT is second back after a decent outing in her return. I would look for her to be tighter tonight and take a step forward. (10) TWIN B EMPRESS has been perfect at this level but has to manage the far outside. She showed last week that she doesn’t need the lead, but multiple moves from out there could be a little too much.

Race 6: FILLIES & MARES, NW $20,000 LAST 4 STARTS. AE: NW 8 RACES OR $150,000 LIFETIME.

I’ll try (3) SIMPLY THE BEST again after she nearly went all the way in her latest. I think she is inching closer to being back in top form. (5) ULTIMATE DESBI N makes her third local start after also just missing in last week’s Open. That wound up being a thrilling race with a four-across finish. I think she will be trying to wear down the leaders with a grinding trip. The inside isn’t likely to open up like it did last week. (4) AVYANNA isn’t really an Open pacer but she nearly capitalized on a perfect pocket trip at a huge number. Mark could get her into that spot again.

Race 7: ONTARIO SIRES STAKES: GOLD LEG 2. 3 YEAR OLD TROTTING FILLIES. STARTING FEE $900 CDN ($700 USD).

(9) TX TRIX R FORKIDS nearly pulled the upset in her division of the Casual Breeze and has produced nothing but good miles to start her season. I think she can navigate the outside draw. (1) CHER HILL was scratched sick out of that same race, but she really turned it around two starts ago when she finished second in a Gold. She fits here when on her game. (6) FLOWING TRIBUTE has gate speed and a good draw on her side. I would expect her to be first to the front and trying to hold that advantage all the way.

Race 8: NW $12,000 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $24,000 LAST 8 STARTS. AE: N/A $2,925 P/S IN 2026.

(2) CHRISTOPHER DANCE N was part of a wickedly fast opener on NA Cup night but raced really well. He may have been able to get second if he stayed inside, but I digress. He shouldn’t be going nearly that fast this week. (1) JORDY N has the ability to step up to classes like this and do well. He closed nicely in the stretch to finish a good second behind the favored Stonebridge Helios. I can see him rounding out the exacta against these if he gets away mid pack. (3) BLUE HUNT might go back to the tactics from three starts ago where he left hard off the wings and secured a good trip. That’s where he likes to be and where he likes to win from.

Race 9: OPEN.

(1) CALICOJACK HANOVER has been really good in his last two efforts, against Ervin Hanover no less. This short field is no slouch, but given his current form, it’s hard to look past him. (5) WAFFLE BLUE CHIP should be blasting in the early stages and is likely to secure a good trip if he clears before the quarter. Another horse who isn’t seen as an Open type, but his raw speed puts him in contention. (3) BRUE HANOVER was saddled with an outside post in the Gold Cup. I put no stock into that race for him. I can see him getting a similar trip to the one two starts ago and a similar result.

Race 10: POP UP SERIES: H&G STARTERS FOR A PURSE OF $12,000 OR LESS IN LAST 4 STARTS. (W/O $50,000 IN 2026 N/E). AE: N/A $2,000 P/S IN 2025-26. LEG 1. (SAT/SUN).

(6) COLD CREEK QUESO got a confidence booster in his latest and was finally put on the front for the first time in ages. I know his previous form doesn’t shine by any means, but an aggressive steer could wake him up on the bigger track. (5) DOWS UP has some sneaky early speed and drops after facing some tough claimers in his last two efforts. He could play spoiler here with the right trip. (8) A CLASS YANKEE should fit here and finally showed some pop last week, but my concern lies in the trip. He might be out of position late which could cost him.

Race 11: POP UP SERIES: H&G STARTERS FOR A PURSE OF $12,000 OR LESS IN LAST 4 STARTS. (W/O $50,000 IN 2026 N/E). AE: N/A $2,000 P/S IN 2025-26. LEG 1. (SAT/SUN).

(2) MIRACULOUS DESBI N gets a big post switch after having to make multiple moves in his latest. He finds an interesting mix of horses in this race, but I think he can get the job done with the right trip. (4) CAPTAIN HURLEY tried to take the field the rest of the way after clearing but had to settle for an underneath finish. He draws well if similar tactics want to be employed. (3) PONDER NO LONGER pulled off a huge upset in his latest after a quick first half was set. There’s a chance he gets that same setup again.

Race 12: 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, WINNERS OF 3 BUT NOT MORE THAN 6 RACES OR $95,000 (OS $115,000) LIFETIME.

(2) AXIAL continued his sharp form last week but had to settle for second. I’ll give him the nod to rebound against horses that he has seen numerous times. (1) SILVERWALLS parked anyone who dared challenge him and took the field all the way in his latest. He hasn’t missed a beat since returning to Mohawk. (5) BORDERLINE MOBBY just missed in his latest, but now I think he has even less incentive to win. I don’t know if he wants to get stuck going big grinding miles against these horses. I think J-Mac tries to work him off a helmet.
