OZONE PARK, N.Y. – From a limited number of starters, trainer Michelle Nevin has had a successful winter meet thus far at Aqueduct. Nevin will look to continue her winning ways Thursday when she sends out Meg’s Foxy Grey in a starter allowance/optional $50,000 claimer that serves as the feature on Aqueduct’s eight-race card. Meg’s Foxy Grey, a 4-year-old daughter of Instilled Regard, won this condition Nov. 7, but was later disqualified after testing positive for betamethasone following the race. On Dec. 7, Meg’s Foxy Grey ran a solid second to the now seven-time winner Sandy’s Garden in an open first-level allowance here. Nevin, who is 4 for 7 at the meet, said Meg’s Foxy Grey had been entered in a couple of spots since December, but those races were canceled due to weather. Nevin said the current owners claimed Meg’s Foxy Grey in August at Delaware Park and turned the filly over to her later in the fall. :: Access the most trusted data and information in horse racing! DRF Past Performances and Picks are available now. “They had run long a couple of times, but going short she’s really shown up,” Nevin said. “She’s been running good in this company. There’s no need to do anything different.” The threat of a wet track Thursday shouldn’t be an impediment to Meg’s Foxy Grey who did win her maiden at Pimlico last spring by four lengths over a muddy track. Flavien Prat, aboard for the first-place finish on Nov. 7, is back in New York after spending last week out of the country and rides Meg’s Foxy Grey from post 2. Princess Ny came off a two-month layoff to win a $50,000 claiming race for Linda Rice in the mud Jan. 18. While she recorded that score on the front end, she didn’t go particularly fast. Rice also sends out Brunch With Amy, who figures to be coming from off the pace under Kendrick Carmouche. Howling Wind, Racing Colors, Saucy Six, and Looks First complete the field. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering? Check out DRF's Handicapping 101 and Wagering 101 pages.
