ARCADIA, Calif. – Net Par, second to the highly-regarded Hughes in the Grade 1 American Pharoah Stakes on Saturday at Santa Anita, is under consideration for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile on Oct. 30 at Keeneland.
Owner Paul Reddam and trainer Antonio Garcia discussed a potential start in the BC Juvenile on Sunday, Garcia said.
Paul “is not scared to take a shot,” Garcia said. “We’ll see how [Net Par] goes in the next week.”
Net Par, bred by Reddam and his wife, Zillah, disputed the pace and then lead in the $300,500 American Pharoah Stakes at 1 1/16 miles. Net Par was caught by Hughes on the turn and was beaten six lengths, while finishing 9 1/2 lengths in front of the third-place finisher, Imperial Honor.
Hughes is unbeaten in four starts, including two Grade 1 races, and is rated as the expected favorite in the BC Juvenile.
Net Par, a California-bred colt by Pavel, has won 2 of 5 starts and earned $191,800.

Early Encore is scheduled to start in the $175,000 Golden State Juvenile for statebreds at seven furlongs on Oct. 31 at Santa Anita.
