Neko Bay headed to Wintergreen

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Ann and Jerry Moss’s homebred Grade 2 winner Neko Bay has been retired from racing to enter stud in 2011 at Wintergreen Stallion Station in Midway, Ky. The farm plans to syndicate him and will announce his fee at a later date.
Neko Bay won this year’s San Pasqual Handicap and finished second to Misremembered in the Grade 1 Santa Anita Handicap. He has four other stakes-placings to his credit, most notably in a pair of Grade 3 races, the 2007 Tokyo City Handicap and the 2009 Native Diver Handicap. Now 7, the Giant’s Causeway horse leaves the track with a $473,020 bankroll and five wins from 14 starts.
The March 6 Santa Anita Handicap marked his last start.
Neko Bay is out of the deceased Rubiano mare Brulay, a Grade 2 winner and half-sister to champion and sire Lemon Drop Kid. He is the first stakes winner for his dam.
