Nebraska schedule approved

In a schedule that mirrors this year's, the Nebraska State Racing Commission on Thursday approved a schedule of 107 racing days in the state for 2006.

Fonner Park in Grand Island will open the season with a 38-day stand that runs Feb. 10 through May 6. Lincoln State Fair follows with a 37-day meet, May 13 to July 17. Horsemen's Park in Omaha will offer its four-day festival July 20-23, and Columbus runs a 24-day meet from July 28 to Sept. 10. Horsemen's Atokad Downs in South Sioux City rounds out the Thoroughbred schedule with a three-day meet Sept. 15-17. Play Fair Park in Hastings closes out the season with a day of Quarter Horse racing Sept. 23.
