NBC, Fox win TV Eclipse Awards

A videotape feature on the sale of War Emblem by Russell Reineman to The Thoroughbred Corporation's Prince Ahmed Salman shortly before the Kentucky Derby won the media Eclipse Award for national television-feature, the NTRA announced Wednesday.

Produced by Alexander Piper, the War Emblem piece aired on NBC Sports' coverage of the Preakness Stakes on May 18. "His piece was beautifully told and artfully produced," said NBC Sports Triple Crown senior producer David Michaels.

Also named a media Eclipse Award winner on Wednesday, in the local television category, was Fox Sports Net Southwest, for its telecast of Louisiana Champions Day at Fair Grounds in New Orleans on Dec. 8, 2001.

Members of the winning production team include Craig Wilkie, Ed Pappas, Matt Celli, Ty Ezell, and five-time Emmy award-winning director Michael Sheehan.
