Coglianese Photos Goodtimehadbyall already has one Claiming Crown win, which came in the 2013 Rapid Transit.

Post 14 in a two-turn race at Gulfstream Park is rarely a bargain, and it will put the considerable riding skills of Jose Ortiz to the test Saturday in the $110,000 Claiming Crown Iron Horse.

Ortiz has the call on Goodtimehadbyall, one of at least a half-dozen viable contenders in a full gate in the Iron Horse (race 7, 3:01 p.m. Eastern). This is the third time Goodtimehadbyall has competed in the Claiming Crown, following a win in the 2013 Rapid Transit and a runner-up finish in the same race the next year.

“I lost him for $62,500 two years ago,” said Jorge Navarro, who trains Goodtimehadbyall for the Ten Strike Racing of Marshall Gramm and Clay Sanders. “I took him back at Parx for $5,000, and since I’ve had him, he’s been doing good. He’s a cool horse to have around. He’s an 8-year-old, he’s won a bunch of races, and you know what? He’s pretty happy.”

Goodtimehadbyall has regained his good form since being reacquired by Ten Strike and shows four workouts at Gulfstream West since his last start at Monmouth Park in mid-September.

“He’s training really, really, really good,” said Navarro. “I think he’s going to be tough. He loves Gulfstream Park, too, so we’ll see.”

Among the many others of note in a 1 1/16-mile race contested under $8,000 starter conditions are Racetrack Romance, a winner in five of his last six starts for Jamie Ness; No Brakes, making a remarkable 108th start when shipping down with solid Maryland form for Wayne Potts; and Chepstow, Papa Pig, and Rich Daddy, the top three finishers in the Preview Day prep at Gulfstream West.

◗ Concealedwithakiss was the 3-5 favorite when four of the 14 fillies and mares in the $110,000 Claiming Crown Glass Slipper met last month on Preview Day at Gulfstream West, but she finished far up the track when Esken Lady raced her into defeat before proceeding to victory.

The rematch of those holdovers is one of numerous story lines surrounding the Glass Slipper (race 5, 2 p.m.), which is run as a one-turn mile under $12,500 starter conditions.

There’s also Littlemissperfect going from turf to dirt for the powerhouse team of Ramsey Farm, Mike Maker, and Jose Ortiz; Sweet Madea, a winner of three of her last four starts while ascending the class ladder for Stanley Gold; and A Place to Shine, the winner of the Preview Day prep at Laurel Park on Nov. 6.

A Place to Shine, one of four 3-year-olds in the lineup, was second in the Grade 3 Delaware Oaks and fourth in the Grade 3 Monmouth Oaks this past summer before trainer Kathy Mongeon began looking for starter conditions. The filly rallied from midpack to win the Laurel race.

“We stepped up against older horses,” said Mongeon. “She had run in 3-year-old stakes. Even though it’s a $12,500 starter, they’re still solid older mares. It was a good step up.”
