Natural Colour favored to earn more green in Golden Gate Distaff

Natural Colour had been in the United States for a little more than two months when she recouped most of her purchase price with a win in an allowance race at Golden Gate Fields in April.
Five months, and two wins later, Natural Colour is thriving on the Northern California circuit and can win her second consecutive stakes in Saturday’s $50,000 Golden Gate Turf Distaff at 1 1/16 miles for fillies and mares.
Trained by Manny Badilla for Ron Charles and Samuel Gordon, Natural Colour has earned $84,800 this year, far above her bargain purchase price of approximately $21,000 in England in February. She earned $45,000 with a win in the $76,350 Luther Burbank Stakes for fillies and mares at 1 1/16 miles on turf Aug. 6 at Santa Rosa.
Natural Colour overcame trouble on the turn to win the Burbank by 4 3/4 lengths as the 2-1 second choice.
In the Golden Gate Distaff, Natural Colour figures to be favored in a field of nine that includes the Southern California shipper Charges Dropped and the streaking Tiz an Edventure.
Charges Dropped, trained by Michael McCarthy, drew the inside post for her first start in a stakes since a seventh-place finish in the Grade 3 Santa Ana Stakes for fillies and mares at 1 1/8 miles on turf at Santa Anita in March.

Charges Dropped was fourth in two allowance races on turf at Del Mar in July and August.
Tiz an Edventure will have her stakes debut in the Golden Gate Turf Distaff on the strength of a four-race winning streak for Randy Marriott and co-owner and trainer Jack Steiner. Tiz an Edventure has not lost for Marriott and Steiner since she was claimed for $25,000 in April.
The winning streak includes a $16,000 claimer on turf and three optional claimers on the synthetic track at Golden Gate Fields, the dirt track at Sacramento, and the turf course at Golden Gate Fields. A winner of 7 of 14 starts, Tiz an Edventure was eligible to be claimed for prices ranging from $25,000 to $62,500 in those optional claimers.
Trainer Steve Specht starts two 3-year-old fillies who are stakes winners this year – Ellamira and Tam’s Little Angel.
Ellamira won the Campanile Stakes for statebred 3-year-old fillies on turf at Golden Gate Fields in May, but has not raced since she finished a well-beaten fifth in the Grade 3 Honeymoon Stakes at Santa Anita later that month.
Tam’s Little Angel led throughout the She’s a Tiger Stakes on dirt at Pleasanton in July and should set the pace in this field.
Charges Dropped, Natural Colour, and Tiz an Edventure have similar tracking styles, which means the Golden Gate Turf Distaff could be determined by which of those runners has a clean journey.
