Nakatani to ride Take Charge Brandi in Rebel

Jockey Corey Nakatani has the mount on Take Charge Brandi on Saturday in the Grade 2, $750,000 Rebel at Oaklawn Park, trainer D. Wayne Lukas said Tuesday. The champion 2-year-old filly of 2014, Take Charge Brandi will face American Pharoah, the champion 2-year-old male of 2014k.
Lukas said rider plans were finalized Monday night. Lukas said he and owner Willis Horton had been debating a number of rider options for Take Charge Brandi, whose spring objective is the Kentucky Oaks.
"We wanted to get stability on the rider situation," said Lukas, referring to getting a jockey that would stick with Take Charge Brandi.
Take Charge Brandi has won stakes in her last four starts, including the Martha Washington last out under Jon Court and the Starlet under Victor Espinoza, who rides American Pharoah in the Rebel.
