Airdrie Stud, which has plenty of promise in the pipeline, is adding a second Kentucky Derby winner to its young roster in Mystik Dan. The colt earned his greatest victory in the 2024 Derby, edging out Sierra Leone and Forever Young – the past two winners of the Breeders’ Cup Classic. Along with his Kentucky Derby win, Mystik Dan, who is by the Into Mischief horse Goldencents, showed his affinity for Churchill Downs with wins in this year’s Grade 2 Lukas Classic and Grade 3 Blame. He also won last year’s Grade 3 Southwest at Oaklawn Park. He joins 2023 Kentucky Derby winner Mage, who had his first foals this year, on Airdrie’s roster. Airdrie also will debut the Vekoma colt Jonathan’s Way, a Grade 3 winner at 2, in 2026. The newcomers join a young and growing roster, with four stallions with crucial crops of 2-year-olds in the coming year. Happy Saver and Highly Motivated will be freshman sires; Girvin will have his first crop of runners since moving to Kentucky from Florida; and Upstart, who has stood at Airdrie throughout his career, will have a large crop coming after a breakout spring in 2022.
