LEXINGTON, Ky. - Mystic Guide, winner of the 2021 Dubai World Cup but unraced since last July, returned to the worktab on Saturday morning at Keeneland. The 5-year-old Mystic Guide, a Godolphin homebred trained by Michael Stidham, went three furlongs in 36 1/5 seconds. “He did it within himself,” Stidham said. “Really easy, comfortable work. Came back and didn’t take a deep breath, cooled out good. So we’re hopefully on our way.” Mystic Guide won the Dubai World Cup in March 2021 before finishing second in the Grade 2 Suburban last July at Belmont. He emerged from the latter race with a bone chip and, after its removal, was training this winter for a comeback. But Stidham was unhappy with the way the horse was going. He was sent back to Kentucky for a full medical workup, and was cleared to resume training. He has been galloping steadily at Keeneland in recent weeks. Stidham said he hopes to get Mystic Guide into a regular work pattern at Keeneland through the rest of this month. Following the conclusion of this meet on April 29, the horse will ship to Stidham’s Fair Hill base in Maryland. :: For the first time ever, our premium past performances are free!
