Mysterious Affair holds on

FORT ERIE, Ontario - Mysterious Affair won Saturday's $140,000 Rainbow Connection at Fort Erie by a neck in a gritty effort.

Regular rider Richard Dos Ramos was aboard Mysterious Affair, who withstood several challenges during the five-furlong turf race and a claim of foul before being declared the winner.

Mysterious Affair, timed in 58 seconds, returned $3.60 as the favorite. Spanish Decree finished second and Barbarees Hill third in the field of nine Ontario-sired fillies and mares.

Owned, trained, and bred by Mort Hardy, Mysterious Affair earned $84,000 to bring her career bankroll to $1,022,598. She has 12 wins, eight seconds and four thirds from 31 starts.
